Visiting as a group

Useful tips

Get here early

The memorial is located one hour from Strasbourg and one and a half hours from Mulhouse. Please allow 10 minutes before your booked time for your group to be welcomed on site. If you are more than 30 minutes late, your visit may be cancelled. The toilets for groups are located near the camp entrance.

Book a time slot for your visit beforehand

All group visits (more than 10 people) must be booked in advance online (subject to confirmation). We advise you to submit your request several months in advance due to the large number of groups visiting the site. Upon arrival, please adhere to the schedule and number of participants selected when you made your booking.

Come properly equipped

The concentration camp memorial is located at an altitude of 800 metres. The visit comprises stairs and steep slopes. Footwear suitable for walking is strongly recommended. In winter, bring warm clothing, as temperatures can be very low, the ground can be slippery, and there can be heavy snowfall. In summer, be sure to protect yourself from the sun and bring plenty of water, as the heat can be intense and shaded areas are scarce.

Good to know: in the event of bad weather (black ice, snow and wind) or incidents, part or all of the site may be closed without notice for safety reasons. Furthermore, the organisation of important ceremonies may result in the closure of the site.

A memorial site

You are going to visit a place of remembrance where thousands of men and women died. For these reasons, we ask that you behave solemnly and dress appropriately throughout the site, out of respect for the victims. Please take a look at the internal rules and the visitor’s guide.
